Nephrology
Nephrology is that part of internal medicine, which deals with diagnosis and non-surgical therapy of kidney diseases. These are:
immunological inflammatory diseases like glomerulonephritis
infections like urinary tract infection or pyelonephritis
genetically determined diseases like cystic kidneys
metabolic disorders like kidney stones
The primary aim of our treatment is the stabilization of the renal function in order to avert the necessity of a continuous kidney replacement therapy (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis) completely or at least as long as possible. Typical problem of chronic renal damages are renal anemia, high blood pressure, renal osteopathy and the necessity of distribution of drugs that are eliminated by the renal failure.
Another major issue of our medical activity is the preparation for kidney transplantation and the postoperative surveillance of the patient.
